Nintendo launches My Mario collection and free “Hello, Mario!” app

It's been almost 40 years since Mario Bros. first graced the screen, but his mustache, red cap, and eternal grin still bring smiles. Now, Nintendo is combining gaming nostalgia with interactive experiences for all ages with the launch of My Mario , a collection that blends design, gameplay, and technology.
The offering ranges from interactive books to everyday items for children, but the highlight is two sets of wooden blocks featuring figures of Mario, Luigi, and other characters, which also function as amiibo figures compatible with Nintendo Switch.
The collection will initially be available at official Nintendo stores in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto , with plans for international expansion beginning in 2026. The goal: to create moments for parents and children to share time away from screens, but with the Japanese company's creative stamp.
Along with the physical collection, Nintendo will launch the free Hello, Mario! app on August 26, 2025 , available for mobile devices running iOS 15 or Android 6.0 or later, as well as for Nintendo Switch .
In it, users can interact with a 3D model of Mario's face: stretch it, rotate it, move it, and watch how it reacts in playful ways. A direct nod to the opening screen of Super Mario 64 , but with a modern twist geared toward children... although nostalgic adults will surely fall for it too.
Nintendo has taken care of an important detail: the app won't have any in-app purchases or require a permanent connection. It will be a simple, accessible, and safe experience, ideal for families looking to introduce little ones to the world of plumbing without digital risks.
Additionally, the launch will be accompanied by a series of stop-motion shorts starring Mario, which will be published on the official My Mario website and on Nintendo's social media platforms.
These types of releases confirm that Nintendo knows how to combine the emotional value of its franchises with new forms of interaction. It's not just a toy, nor just an app: it's an ecosystem of experiences that strengthens the connection with longtime fans while also attracting new generations.
With My Mario, the company also reaffirms its strategy of exclusive products by region to create global excitement and promote gamer tourism in Japan, where its official stores are becoming a must-see destination for fans.
Although the My Mario collection won't be widely distributed outside of Japan for now, its positive reception could accelerate its rollout to other countries. The Hello, Mario! app, being free and global, will serve as a bridge to keep international interest alive.
Nintendo knows that Mario's true power lies in uniting generations, and this new offering promises to appeal to both those who knew him in the '80s and those who are discovering him today.
